Vessel Tracking installation in BSC fishermen boat in Betahwalang, Demak District, Central Java
by adminapri March 8, 2018 0 commentsIn order to support the traceability and documentation of BSC management in the BSC Fihermen, there are several Vessel Tracking System installed to BSC fishermen in Betahwalang village. This activity was held on 9 January 2018 and organized by UNDIP, SFP and LP2RL. APRI also invited to this activity and represented by APRI Field Coordinator Miftahul Khair. The vessel tracking tools was used called Spot Trace. The application of this program to support tracking system on fishing boat and predict the location of BSC catch activity by fishermen. The movement of fishing boats can be known so that the location of catching and also the enumeration data can be synergized to get the catch per catch effort. So that sustainability and tracebility can be maintained.
The goals are to assess the data needs and opportunities of the Blue Swimming Crab (BSC) fishery and its associated supply chain in Betahwalang and to help inform key stakeholders how to set up the Fisher Stewardship Program pilot to support implementation of the control document system. It was also developing a BSC-specific ground-truthing data set to support the upcoming pilot work with the control document and fisher stewardship program, and observing and evaluating the current data flow, data handling, and data gaps within the existing supply chain.
