TREKfish is an IPB University innovation which is a tool for tracking fish catches to support sustainable management of Indonesian blue swimming crab fisheries. TREKFish was used by several fisheries organizations in Indonesia that used it in order to support their fisheries management system. APRI was also used the TREKFish as a Vessel Tracking System (VTS) on blue swimming crab fisheries. TREKFish installation had been done in 3 locations that is Rembang, Pamekasan, and Pamandati (South Konawe).
On the November 19, 2019 at IPB University Bogor, there was a joint discussion for TREKFish users. This activity organized by Masyarakat dan Perikanan Indonesia (MDPI) with theme “Sharing the Learning and Experiences of Implementing Treksfish in Small-scale Fisheries”. The meeting was attended by the Research Team of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science of IPB University, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, and several fisheries organizations in Indonesia that have supported the use of local products and use TREKFish in small-scale fishing fleets.
