The Meeting to Develop the Understanding and Application of the Rules in Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries Management in Central Java Province, Semarang, Oktober 3, 2018

Fisheries Improvement Program which is implemented by Indonesian Blue Swimming Crab Association/Asosiasi Pengelolaan Rajungan Indonesia (APRI) covers all of Indonesian water with objectives: Change the catch practices which is not environmental friendly, support policies about management of blue swimming crab that is sustainable, develop the understanding and awareness about the importance of the sustainability of blue swimming crab management, and develop the quality product so that appropriate with standard that was required by the market.

In February 27, 2018, the Meeting of Indonesia Blue Swimming Crab Coordination was held, and as the continuance of the program, in September 5-6, 2018 the Meeting of National Coordination of Action Plan and Implementation of Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries Management in Indonesia was conducted. For that reasons, APRI collaboration with BKIPM Central Java Province, and BP2MHP Central Java Province, supported by Fisheries Partnership conduct the Meeting to Develop the Understanding and Application of the Rules in Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries Management in Central Java Province at Meeting Room BKIPM Central Java Province, Semarang, Oktober 3, 2018. There were several outputs:

  1. Standardization of blue swimming crab product that is appropriate with market requirements that were formed
  2. CPIB and Product Appropriateness Certificate were ready to use
  3. Document Control Completeness materials were ready to use for the necessity of capacity buildings
  4. Agreement to do the blue swimming crab fisheries management which is sustainable and support the traceability and documentation system

The participants were:

  4. The chairman of Sub. Dit. SDI Laut Pedalaman, Teritorial, dan Perairan Kepulauan Dit. PSDI
  5. The chairman of BP2MKP Central Java Province
  6. The chairman of BKIPM Central Java Province
  7. Chairman of DKP in Central Java Province
  8. The chairman of Bid. Pengawasan Sumberdaya Perikanan Central Java Province
  9. Board of Director APRI
  10. Dr. Abdul Ghofar – NFI Crab Council
  11. Sri Redjeki M. Si. – Diponegoro University
  12. Sustainable Fisheries Partnership
  13. Environmental Defense Fund
  14. Starling Resources
  15. APRI Member in Central Java

In this program, there were several discussion which were being the main focus. The discussion opened by the chairman of DKP Central Java Province and then continued by:

  1. APRI Secretary with discussing the Importance of the understanding and enforcement to the violation of KepMen No. 56/Th. 2016 that will implicated negatively to the performer of industry in fishermans, collectors, or miniplants level
  2. The chairman of Sub. Dit. LPTK – Dit. PSDI with discussing the management of blue swimming crab plan
  3. Dit. PDSPKP with discussing about the development of quality that appropriate to the standard that set through the prouct appopriateness certificate
  4. BKIPM with discussing about the development of quality that appropriate to the standard that set through the CPIB
  5. The chairman of BKIPM Central Java Province with discussing about the process and steps of CPIB
  6. The chairman of BP2MHP CentralJava Province with discussing about the process and steps of production appropriateness certification
  7. Executive Director of APRI with discussing the blue swimming crab fisheries improvement program to fill the necessity of market demands about the product that is sustainable
  8. APRI with discussing about the development of the blue swimming crab product traceability obedience through the application of Control Document
  9. APRI with discussing about the training of document control fulfillment steps

In the end of this program, there was a submission of CPIB certificate to 7 miniplants that was 3 miniplants in Central Java, 3 miniplants in East Java, and 1 miniplant in West Java.

The program in Central Java was ended with expected that all of the stakeholder in blue swimming crab fisheries are understand about standardization of blue swimming crab product appropriate with the government or market requirements, and the collectors and miniplants understand about the implementation of document control.

Together we build the optimum, sustainable, and traceable blue swimming crab fisheries.
