Socialization and Installation of Vessel Tracking System (VTS) TREKFish in Pamandati, October 6, 2019
by adminapri October 9, 2019 0 commentsWithout ignoring the role of other supply chains, APRI realize that in the blue swimming crab industry the lowest supply chain play a big role in the sustainability of the resources. Various program have been carried out in this supply chain, including the data collection. Data collection is important in the blue swimming crab fisheries, it can be the basis to determining management steps.
The data collection that APRI does continously develops, one of the development is by implementing the Vessel Tracking System (VTS) “TREKFish”. Through the TREKFish, the movement of fishermen boats and the area of blue swimming crab catch can be recorded so we can see it. This data then can be synergized by control documents and data from enumerators in the landing station. This can be a good basis in the management of blue swimming crab, especially in the lowest supply chain.
Some time ago, APRI had been installed the TREKFish on the fishermen boats in Rembang and Pamekasan. And on the October 6, 2019, APRI, Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP), IPB University, and the Head of the Agency of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Konawe Selatan had been done the socialization and installation of Vessel Tracking System (VTS) TREKFish in Pamandati Village. Pamandati Village itself is a collaborative management location which was declared by APRI.
TREKfish is an IPB University innovation which is a tool for tracking fish catches to support sustainable management of Indonesian blue swimming crab fisheries. Socialization about TREKFish was carried out to the local fishermens, and the installation is performed on the local fishermens boat. The socialization and installation of VTS TREKFish is a step forward in the implementation of technology to support the blue swimming crab fisheries management.
