Innovation in Blue Swimming Crab Hatchery: Responding to Crab Aquaculture Challenges
by adminapri October 18, 2024 0 commentsAPRI is trying to be able to answer this challenge by collaborating with Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET), and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) in looking at development innovations and efforts in this crab hatchery so that it can be optimized or you can feel the benefits.
From July to September APRI produces thousands of crablets with Mr. Oded Zmora from the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET) accompanied by the APRI team. One of the biggest obstacles to this crab commodity is that the cannibalism of crabs is quite high, making the survival rate (SR) low and the availability of feed which is important for the growth of crabs, which is also quite high.
Dr. Oded Zmora as an expert in the field of algae or natural food from the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET) said that the crab feed diet could be an alternative solution to the problem above by enriching it with natural feed so that the crab feed needs are met and they don’t get hungry quickly. Adding a shelter is also important for crabs to provide shelter.
