Crab Pot Application by BSC Fishermen in Jepara, Central Java
by adminapri May 9, 2017 0 commentsDr. Hawis Madduppa (Executive Director of APRI and Marine / Fishery Researcher from IPB) and Ir. Zarochman (BBPPI Semarang fishing gear expert) together have visited the Group BSC Fishermen in Jepara, Central Java. This visit was conducted on 2 May 2017. In their visit, the group of Jepara BSC fishermen had applied ‘Crab Pot’ to collect the captured EBF crabs. Crab pot is used to collect Egg Buried Females crabs. After the crab released their eggs, the fishermen take it back for sale. This is to support the government’s regulation ban on EBF crabs. This ‘crab pot’ activity is supported by APRI since 2016 and hopefully gradually increasing the awareness of fishermen to comply with the government’s catch rules. This activity is also as a program of restocking and crab enhancement
