Blue Swimming Crab Fishery Conservation Area in Betahwalang – Demak
by adminapri October 16, 2023 0 commentsOn October 6 2023, Central Java Fisheries Bureau (DKP) held an FGD activity to study conservation areas in the Betahwalang Village area. APRI, in order to support sustainable crab fisheries, continues to make efforts to preserve crab fisheries. One important thing is a conservation area so that crab remains sustainable.
This fisheries conservation area in Betahwalang was proposed in 2017 and finally in 2018 the proposed conservation area was approved by the governor and made a regional regulation. Conservation areas have been regulated in KP regulation no. 31 of 2020 with 3 categories:
1. Park: An open conservation area with a core zone of 10% of the target habitat.
2. Sanctuary: A closed conservation area with a core zone of 70% of the target habitat.
3. Maritime conservation area.
The meeting involved village heads and fishermen from 3 neighboring villages. The aim is to review the core area so as not to disrupt traffic from fishing activities in neighboring villages. Second, village heads can educate their residents, especially fishermen, not to carry out activities in conservation areas and establish policies or regulations to be used as local wisdom. This activity was attended by Central Java Fisheries Bureau (DKP). Local Government (DKP Demak), Undip, CV. Java Design Consultant, PSPL Serang Workshop, East Java CDK, APRI, Village Head, Community Forum, and fishermen.
