APRI Excecutive Director Invited as Speaker in the National Symposium Crustacea
by adminapri May 29, 2017 0 commentsIn order to improve fishery management in Indonesia, since 2014 the National Symposium on Sustainable Fisheries Management has been held. The Symposium aims to gather the latest information and scientific studies on several important fisheries resource groups in Indonesia, as one of the recommended policy recommendations for fisheries management in Indonesia. In organizing the fishery symposium, its implementation always cooperates with the government as the fishery management authority in Indonesia, namely the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.
The National Crustacea Symposium was held on 15-16 May 2017 at Gedung Mina Bahari (GMB) 4 Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Jln. Medan Merdeka Timur, Central Jakarta. This activity is a collaboration between WWF-Indonesia and Fisheries Research Center (PUSRISKAN) Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, National Commission for Assessment of Fish Resources (KOMNAS KAJISKAN), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), and several other related parties. The theme of this event is “Toward Sustainable Management of Crustacean Fisheries in Indonesia”. This crustacean symposium plan received 60 papers, presenting key speakers from governments, academics and researchers, as well as experts and practitioners.
Dr. Hawis Madduppa as APRI Excecutive Director Invited in this event to present about Sustainability of Industry and Blue Swimming Crab Business in Indonesia. It is also invited Dr. Toni Ruchimat (Head of Research Center of Fisheries, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries) to present about Policy of Crustacea Fishery Management in WPP-NRI, Prof. Dr. Indra Jaya (Chairman of the National Commission for Fish Stocks Assessment) to present about Study and Status Stock of Crustacea Fishery, and Abdullah Habibi (Fisheries and Aquaculture Improvement Manager WWF-Indonesia) to present about Indonesian Crustacean Fishery with MSC Standards.
