Saturday, May 14, 2022. APRI held prayers together and an appreciation activity for Dr. Hawis Madduppa.

In 2014, Dr. Hawis Madduppa joined the Association of Indonesian Crab Fisheries Management (APRI) he is one of the figures who can unite business with science. His journey from 2014 to 2022 is very impressive, his achievements while commanding APRI as the spearhead are so satisfying. One of his achievements is the Fishery Improvement Project which has received an “A” rating, which means that crab fisheries in Indonesia have experienced significant improvements. Dr. Hawis Madduppa is also a young academic scientist at the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) with his background makes APRI a “scientific-based” organization.

This activity was attended by various influential figures and the family of the late Dr. Hawis Maddupa is one of his wives and three children. His journey while working in an APRI organization was all told to his wife. Do not forget if Dr. Hawis Maddupa is doing his job out of town, he doesn’t forget to always make video calls with his family.

According to Ir. Kuncoro Catur Nugroho, MM as the Chairman of APRI said that Dr. Hawis Maddupa is a warrior, he is very responsible and the programs he provides not only have an impact on the business sector but also on the welfare of the community, so this is his legacy that will later become a charity. While at APRI, we really support him, whatever he does, we support him.

The activity continued with speeches from important figures, family, and friends during his lifetime. Professor of FPIK IPB Prof. Dr. Ir. Rokhmin Dahuri, MS also said that death is a destiny that we cannot avoid so we have to let it go, Dr. Hawis Madduppa is a person who has contributed to the crab fishery, God willing, he will get the best place in the sight of Allah SWT.

Also present, Ir Artati Widiarti M.Sc said that his figure in campaigning for crabs with one of the principles of sustainability created added value from crab fisheries products, which currently occupy the top three positions in competition with squid and cuttlefish, but are still below shrimp and tuna. skipjack, cob.

Prof. Dr. Mala Nurilmala as the Deputy Dean of FPIK IPB also conveyed her journey together and also her contribution as a young scientist at IPB. Furthermore, the lecturers of FPIK IPB and his friends were added when he gave his contribution and commitment in building ITK FPIK IPB.

Dr. Hawis Madduppa has also succeeded in bringing this APRI organization into the spotlight through his programs and his data collection in national fisheries improvement programs such as FIP, his struggles in the sustainability and traceability of crab fisheries to this stage is very developed. The Milestone delivered by Ir. Kuncoro Catur Nugroho, MM is also from his hard work, we at APRI give freedom to him because we believe in his performance, which is very committed and professionally responsible.

In the future, APRI will make a memorial book of the late Dr. Hawis Madduppa to commemorate his great service with his contribution to APRI and also the management of crab fisheries in Indonesia, the activity was continued by giving Tali Asih from the NFI Crab Council through Dr. Hawis Madduppa. Abdul Ghofar, MSC Indonesia through Hirmen Syofyanto and by APRI through Ir. Kuncoro Catur Nugroho, MM. Support was also given to all invited guests to the family of the deceased.

The activity was closed by reading a prayer for the deceased to get the best place in the sight of Allah SWT and his sins forgiven, his grave opened and his deeds of worship accepted and the family left behind was given fortitude. At the end of the event, the APRI Board took the time to pay its last respects to him at his grave located at the IPB Memorial Park Cemetery.
