APRI Attends NFI Crab Council Annual Meeting in Boston, United States

13-15 March 2022, Mr. Wita Setioko as APRI representative attended the NFI Crab Council Annual Meeting and had the opportunity to attend the Seafood Expo in Boston, namely “Seafood Expo North America 2022 (SENA)”. The crab commodity is one of the leading commodities of fishery products in Indonesia, for approximately the last ten decades the total position of crab production in Indonesia is in the position of the top 5 fishery product commodities.

The SENA 2022 activity lasted for two days in Boston, America, in which Indonesia through the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia also participated in the activity. This activity is used at the same time to attend activities carried out by the NFI Crab Council in the Annual Meeting to discuss the development of world fisheries. America is the largest export destination for fishery products, while crab commodities are mostly exported to America.

Based on BKIPM data (08/03/2022) as many as 85% of Indonesian crab products are exported to America, during the NFI Crab Council Annual Meeting activities, programs for improving crab fisheries in Indonesia were also delivered.
