APRI 2nd Quarterly Meeting for Sustainability Blue Swimming Crab Stock in July 17th, 2021

APRI holds annual routine activities by presenting extraordinary speakers, namely Mr. Trian Yunanda S.Pi, M.Sc as Director of Fish Resource Management and Prof. Dr. Ir Indrajaya M.Sc from Komnas Kajiskan to discuss the crab stock.

before entering the event through the chairman of APRI Mr. Ir. Kuncoro Catur Nugroho conveyed related to the condition of the crab fishery from the business sector while still prioritizing the importance of sustainability during the pandemic in “Sustainability in health”. Abdul Ghofar also stated that healthy is important, so healthy fisheries are sustainable trade.

Dr. Hawis Madduppa provided developments regarding the FIP Progress and the objectives and activities of the 12 action plans in the Ocean Stewardship Fund (OSF) funding program by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) which have been running and will be implemented. followed by video playback related to the launch of “APRI Datacenter” which is a web-based digital platform to access data related to crab fisheries.

Entering the main event, Mr. Trian Yunanda S.Pi, M.Sc gave a form of appreciation for the APRI datacenter which is expected to be a form of collaboration later. then the delivery of material related to the program can be traced to the sustainability of the crab stock. Mr. Trian said that there are 3 main issues in crab management, namely crab resources, governance, and socio-economic. therefore the importance of sustainable and data-based management.

entered the second material by Prof. Dr. Ir. Indrajaya M.Sc related to stock sustainability benchmarks, current crab stock status, hopes for APRI. The activity was closed with a quite interesting discussion session from the two presenters. This annual activity is very useful to add insight and keep abreast of the development of crab fisheries as well as collaboration in sustainable and traceable crab fisheries management actions.
