FSPCA PCQI Training Stage II, Jakarta, August 29-31, 2019

The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) was signed into law in 2011. The goal is to make the food supply in the USA is safe by shifting the focus of federal regulators from responding to contamination to prevention. By September 16, 2016 the majority of food processors need to have a Food Safety Plan that has been prepared by a “Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)”. This means that companies need to have a PCQI in place quickly so they can prepare and implement the Food Safety Plan. This raises a couple of questions for food processors.

Pasteurized blue swimming crab meat industry challenged by the demands of food safety management system, sustainable caught, and traceability fulfillments that being the mandatory for every stakeholders. APRI try to develop the industry players to ensure the fulfillment of that compliance through the FSPCA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Training.

APRI collaborated with CV Kencana Wahana Hasil Bahari and REI Sistem Indonesia done the FSPCA PCQI Training Stage II on August 29-31, 2019 at The Akmani Hotel, Jakarta. This training participated by 15 participants from at least 11 company, namely:

  1. PT Siger Jaya Abadi
  2. PT Guna Citra Kartika
  3. PT Bumi Menara Internusa
  4. BLue Star Foods Corp.
  5. Handy Seafood International, Inc.
  6. PT Kelola Mina Laut Cikande
  7. PT KML Ichimasa Foods
  8. PT Fresh On Time Seafood
  9. PT Maju Bersama Karib
  10. CV Inagro Jinawi
  11. PT Bening Big Tree Farms

And 1 government institution, that is the Center of Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and the Safety of Fisheries Product/Badan Karantina Ikan, Pengendalian Mutu dan Keamanan Hasil Perikanan (BKIPM).

The training goes well where every participants very interest to participate, including giving responses and asking questions. Every participants look enthusiast to get the knowledge about the FSPCA PCQI and how the implementation on their respective companies and institutions. The participants that successfully completed the training, can be stated as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).

With this training, APRI hope that food and beverages industry, especially blue swimming crab industry, can develop their capacity to face every challenges, especially in export activity. Together, we build the strong industry which is able to speak more to the world and always maintaining the sustainability aspects.
