Launching Multistakeholder Platform for Sustainable Fisheries, Jakarta, July 25, 2019

Sustainable fisheries management is very important to realized and implemented by every person, especially the marine affairs and fisheries stakeholders. Sustainable fisheries not only to enhance the resources, it’s more than that matter. When we talking about the sustainable fisheries, it cannot be separated from the impact for the ecosystems, how it benefits the industry, moreover how it plays a big role for human survival. Indonesia which has big potential for marine and fisheries resources, must give more attention to this sector so that it management can run well and created what we call sustainable fisheries. To realize the sustainable fisheries, stakeholders must support each other and the need of common perception to implement every step in the realizing of sustainable fisheries.

On July 25, 2019, Bappenas with supported by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) conduct the Launching Multistakeholder Platform for Sutainable Fisheries and public discussion. This activity involving various stakeholders from Bappenas itself, related ministries and institutions, non governmental organizations, development agencies and partners, association and industry, and also the university and academics, in order to guide the sustainable fisheries management in Indonesia which is in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that set via Presidential Decree No. 59 Year 2017 about the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDGs-14: Life Below Water.

The activity started with the report from Marine and Fisheries Director of Bappenas, Dr. Sri Yanti Wibisana, and continued by Dr. Ir. Arifin Rudiyanto, M. Sc. as The Head of Bappenas in Maritime and Natural Resources Sector to give the statements and launching the Multistakeholder Platform for Sustainable Fisheries. As for the next agenda is panel discussion about the “Multistakeholder Contributions towards Sustainable Indonesian Fisheries” which was involving the Head of the Agency of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Southeast Sulawesi Province,  Yudi Nurul Ihsan the Dean of Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty of Padjadjaran University as the Coordinator of University Networks for SDG-14 Indonesia Fisheries and Marine College Leaders Forum, Djanti Juari the Chairman of AP2HI, and Luky Adrianto the Dean of Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty of IPB University as the Chairman of Indonesia Fisheries and Marine College Leaders Forum/Coordinator CoE SDG-14 Indonesia.

The activity also showing various stand form the stakeholders where in this opportunity, APRI also participated to open the stand to showing APRI’s publications, share about our programs and activities, and facilitates everyone who want to know APRI more deeply. With the launching of Multistakeholder Platform for Sutainable Fisheries, we hope that the fisheries management can be done better where every stakeholders are able to participate, so that the sustainability of Indonesian fisheries can be realized and keep maintained.
