Second Meeting of Preparation of Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries Harvest Strategy in Indonesia, Bogor, February 19, 2019

Natural resources is needed for human survival. Indonesia is one of the countries that has abundant natural resources. As an archipelago state, Indonesia has quiet a lot of fish resources, such as blue swimming crab. However this sometimes make us complacent and forget that every natural resources will run out and be damaged if the utilization is not wise. Blue swimming crab fisheries involving various stakeholders include the industrial sectors, association, NGO, and the government. It’s very important that blue swimming crab fisheries is need the good management from every stakeholder, therefore the collaboration from every stakeholder is very important for the sustainability of blue swimming crab fisheries. As the one of natural resources, the utilization of blue swimming crab must be done wisely so that the sustainability of blue swimming crab can be maintained. This should be understood by every subjects who are included in this fisheries.

An action must be done. Directorate of Fish Resources Management Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and APRI organize the Second Meeting of Preparation of Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries Harvest Strategy in Indonesia which conducted on February 19, 2019 at Santika Hotel, Bogor. This program as a follow-up from the previous program that is Document Material Preparation of Blue Swimming Crab Harvest Strategy in WPPNRI, which held on December 17, 2018 at Alana Hotel Sentul, Bogor, which is a part of the blue swimming crab harvest strategy document preparation that is an importance step that functions as operational complement for a blue swimming crab Fisheries Management Plan/Rencana Pengelolaan Perikanan (RPP) that being the adaptive management cycle.

Many stakeholders are included in this activity, such as from the government, association, university, and NGO. Representatives from several members of APRI also attended such as Mr. Waanto and Mrs. Aik Wulandari. Every stakeholders have a their respective role that are able to support the harvest strategy document preparation. The collaboration of every stakeholders is needed so that the blue swimming crab harvest strategy can be realized. And in this activity, there was a formation of Document Preparation Expert Team which has members from government, university, assocation, and NGO. APRI hopes that through this activity, blue swimming crab fisheries can more sustainable and can be better from time to time.
