Focus Group Discussion: Mapping Miniplant of Blue Swimming Crab in West Papua Province, Sorong, February 7, 2019

Blue swimming crab fisheries involving so many peoples that spread widely into the supply chains on various areas in Indonesia. Along with the developing of the era, there are changes in the blue swimming crab fisheries in every sectors, such as the environment, government regulations, market requirements, and industry. Blue swimming crab supply chain is include the small fishermens with boat size <10 GT, collectors, miniplants, and fish processor units. Miniplant and the supply chains below it have an important role due to the direct interaction between them to the blue swimming crab in the nature, which is giving us the reason to organize a program that can develop the knowledgement about the good utilization of blue swimming crab, and also to fulfill the government regulations and market requirements, especially to verificate and mapping miniplants, synergy and understanding the CPIB and SKP certification process.

Therefore, SKIPM Sorong collaborating with Bappenas, UNDP, and APRI organized the Focus Group Discussion: Mapping Miniplant of Blue Swimming Crab in West Papua Province which was held on February 7, 2018 at Swiss-Belhotel, Sorong. This program attended by several stakeholders such as Fisheries and Marine Director of Bappenas, Marine Affairs and Fisheries Agency of West Papua Province Province, Marine Affairs and Fisheries Agency of Sorong, Area Manager of APRI Members in West Papua Province, all of the suppliers and miniplants in West Papua Province, UNDP, and SFP.

 

There were several agendas started by opening statements from Head of SKIPM Sorong and Head of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Agency of West Papua Province, and then continued by Fisheries and Marine Director of Bappenas that was talking about the support from Global Marine Commodities (GMC) Project for sustainable fisheries. Marine Affairs and Fisheries Agency of West Papua also gave a presentation about the Step of SKP, and then Mr. Bambang A. Nugraha as APRI General Secretary presented about the Importance of Understanding and Prosecution of the Violation of PerMen KP No. 56/2016, and continued by discussion. SKIPM sorong also gave the presentation about the Production Standard Appropriate with the Quality Warranty System of the Fisheries Product, and after that was Dr. Hawis Madduppa as APRI Executive Director with presented the Developing the Obedience of Blue Swimming Crab Product Traceability Through the Control Document Implementation and continued with discussion. The last agenda was a Training about the Procedures for Fulfilling the Control Document guided by APRI with manual methods and APRI Apps.

 

Focus Group Discussion: Mapping Miniplant of Blue Swimming Crab in West Papua Province closed with hope that every fishermens, collectors, miniplants, and also every stakeholders, can more understand about the every material that was delivered and be able to share it with the others, and surely be able to implement it. Let’s go together to develop our blue swimming crab in every sectors, to maintain and improve blue swimming crab sustainability, sustainable industry, and economic sectors. APRI believe that every stakeholder will be able to make a synergy for our blue swimming crab.
