Field visit of Director General of Capture Fisheries MMAF to Betahwalang Village, Demak District, Central Java Province
by adminapri March 8, 2018 0 commentsAs a follow-up from the last Coordination Meeting of Blue Swimming Crab Fishery in Indonesia Director General of Capture Fisheries visit to Betahwalang village , Demak District Central Java Province. The Director General of Capture Fisheries came on 2nd March 2018, Friday at 2PM-4PM. He was visited the post data Centre and discuccion with the participant. The event was opened by Dr. Abdul Ghofar representing NFI Crab Council as well as Diponegoro University. He was explained about the management of blue swimming crabs in the Betahwalang village has been started since 2013 with the formation of a fisher group called a Sustainable BSC Fisheries Management Agency or called LP2RL.
Management blue swimming crab carried out in collaboration with various parties such as APRI, Diponegoro University, RARE and SFP. At present time SFP was launched a project entitled Fisheries Stewardship Program (FSP), one of which aims to help the traceability of BSC products as well as to see the compliance of the supply chain to the Minister Regulation issued in relation to the minimum of landing size and the ban of catch egg berried female.
Next activities was a presentation by enumerator of the Vessel tracking system, an enumerator describing 60 vessels installed by this device and showing the results of tracking data and mapping of BSC catch locations, CPUE values and catching areas for small BSC less than 10cm and egg berried female and landing report. APRI executive director Dr. Hawis Madduppa also explained that APRI doing traceability and catch documentation (TCD) in all the member and Betahwalang is one of the trial TCD in the supply chain of BSC.
Director General very appreciated and proud of the activities in the Betahwalang village . This is in accordance with what he expects regarding rural development sustainable fisheries that can be synergized with Edu tourism areas, with the assistance as well as recording that is less than 10 cm and egg berried female on results the catch , he expecting the fishermen want to establish a regional spawning ground area , by mapping obtained should the agreement not only fishermen but also connected with the provincial government, especially RPWZ3K and RT RW legislation that will form spawning ground area specifically for BSC spawning. “We need to see the mangrove ecosystem so this can be a village that is used as eco-Edu tourism at some time in the future” He said.
